Below and attached is updated information from the Occupy Palm Beach
County General Assembly for the GAIM Conference protests coming up.
Hopefully by now you’ve heard that many of the world’s biggest and
greediest corporate investors are heading to Boca Raton from January
22 to 25 for the 2012 GAIM Conference… and that Occupy Palm Beach
County is planning an appropriate welcome for these pawns and agents
of the global elite — the 1%.  Please spread this far and wide. Let’s
make this the strongest showing yet by the Occupy Movement in South
Florida!

GAIM PLAN

Saturday, January 21
Meet at the Occupy Palm Beach County site, N. Olive and Banyon Blvd. (Old City
Hall), West Palm Beach
12 – 2 pm — Know Your Rights Training (basics for dealing with the law)
2 – 4 pm — OPBC General Assembly (open meeting for Occupy Palm Beach County)
4 – 6 pm — Direct Action Spokes Council (planning meeting of
participants in actions to confront and expose GAIM conference
attendees)
6 – 8 pm — Direct Action & Affinity Groups Training (basic skills for
taking the streets and creating revolution)
All Day — Making protest props, signs, banners, noisemakers, etc.
All Night — Slumber party under the dim stars of downtown West Palm Beach

Sunday, January 22
9 am — Caravan from West Palm to Boca Raton
10 am — March to Boca Raton Resort & Club to greet the GAIM
participants on their way in to register. Meet up at Federal Hwy and
Camino Real Blvd.
3pm — Flotilla of boats, canoes and kayaks to visit the Boca Resort’s
waterfront.  Meet at Palmetto Park inlet to join in or send off the
flotilla.
All Night — Eat, assemble and be merry

Monday, January 23
Back to business as usual? Nah.

Tuesday, January 24
Prison Divestment National Day of Action
Participants in GAIM represent most of the major investors in private
prisons (Wells Fargo, General Electric, Vanguard, Fidelity, Black
Rock, Lazard). Managers who control over 51% of total investment of
GEO and 40% of CCA could be in attendance. These are the biggest
companies who make massive profit by imprisoning poor people and
detaining immigrants (more details TBA).

Other things to know:

  • While civil disobedience actions may occur, the main march and rally will be constitutionally protected activity.
  • Please consider carpooling, biking or taking public transit. Parking is limited in the area.
  • Bring food and water, for yourself and to share.
  • If you intend on staying overnight, please bring your own tent and blankets.
  • Childcare will be available for those in need.  Please come to the General Assembly or Action Spokes Council on Saturday to coordinate this.
